Radio & Television

Course Overview

Radio and TV introduces students to the multi-faceted world of mass communication in the United States. In addition to studying the history of radio and television, students will gain an understanding of the broadcast media as tools of persuasion, and their impact on society. Students will develop oral and written communication skills, acquire software and equipment operating abilities, and integrate teamwork skills. Students will study programming trends and strategies, and also work in video and audio production, including work on Jefferson High School’s FM radio station, WJEF.   Students will be placed in a work-based learning setting in the community. Admittance to Radio-TV I is by instructor consent after the audition process is completed. Auditions will be scheduled during  spring semester and held at Jefferson High School.
