Precision Agriculture

Overview

The Precision Agriculture course provides students the opportunity to learn automation, crop spatial variability, data analysis, differential correction, geographic information systems, global positioning systems, nutrient spatial variability, sensors, soil & water spatial variability, and telematics. Students will use industry recognized technology in the classroom setting. Equipment currently used in the classroom includes: Davis Instruments Weather Station, DJI Phantom 4 Pro, DJI Spark Drone, Drone Deploy Software, FarmBot Genesis XL, iGrow 800 Greenhouse Control, SeaPerch Robotics, Sentera High Precision Single Sensor, SMS Software, and Soil Analysis Equipment. Students will have the opportunity to connect with community agriculture partners for weekly externship experiences throughout course enrollment.

Upon successful completion of the course students will obtain dual credits from Ivy Tech Community College, the Federal Aviation Administration Part 107 Certified Remote Pilots License, OSHA 10 Hour General Industry Certification, and partnerships with local industry recognized employers.
