Barbering

Course Overview

Advanced Barbering is a course with a focus particularly on barbering styles and techniques. The emphasis will be toward the development of advanced skills in shaving, hair cutting, styling, facials and facial hair care, hair coloring, and chemical texturizing. Students will also study anatomy and physiology as it applies to barbering. Upon completion of the course requirements, the students will be able to perform basic manipulative skills including haircutting, hairstyling, chemical texturizing, shaving, treatment of the skin and scalp, salon management, license laws, sanitation and retain knowledge relating to the history of barbering. Successful completion of the course requires at least 375 Barbering studio hours.

Students must be 18 to take the certification exam.

  • 12 credits maximum
    • 7330 Principles of Barbering and Cosmetology (2 credits)
    • 7331 Barbering and Cosmetology Fundamentals (2 credits)
    • 7333 Barbering (2 credits)
    • 7334 Barbering and Cosmetology Capstone (6 credits)
