Course Overview

Aviation Maintenance Capstone provides advanced study in FAA airframe maintenance concepts and procedures while helping students build the technical skills needed for careers in aviation maintenance. Areas of study include non-metallic structures, landing gear systems, flight controls, inspection practices, and FAA airframe standards. Students also participate in hands-on lab experiences designed to develop industry-relevant maintenance and troubleshooting skills in preparation for the FAA Airframe Mechanic Certificate.

As part of the capstone experience, students may participate in work-based learning opportunities with aviation and aerospace industry partners. Depending on placement availability, students may gain exposure to aircraft maintenance operations, inspection procedures, aviation safety practices, equipment use, documentation processes, and other real-world aviation maintenance experiences aligned to employer operations and student career interests.
