The Tippecanoe School Corporation named its 2026 Teachers of the Year, honoring two educators for their work in classrooms and beyond.

Andrea Bornino, a K-5 physical education teacher at Klondike Elementary School, earned Elementary Teacher of the Year honors. Diane Beaudoin, a chemistry teacher at Harrison High School, received Secondary Teacher of the Year honors. A committee selected the two from a field of 19 building-level honorees, and both will represent TSC in the Indiana Teacher of the Year program.

Bornino brings 18 years of experience to her role, including four years at Klondike. A graduate of Purdue University, she builds a program that goes beyond traditional physical education by connecting physical activity with social-emotional well-being.

Klondike Principal Scott Peters says Bornino demonstrates an unwavering commitment to student wellness. "Her impact extends far beyond the gym through schoolwide initiatives, family engagement events and community partnerships that promote wellness as a shared responsibility," Peters says.

Bornino leads district and statewide initiatives, secures grants to expand programming and mentors future educators through her work with Purdue University, where she serves as a mentor and lecturer. She focuses on helping students build lifelong healthy habits.

"My mission is to build a robust school culture where physical literacy is the foundation for every student's journey toward becoming a thriving, healthy individual," Bornino says.

At Harrison High School, Beaudoin runs a dynamic science classroom where she challenges and supports every student. She has nine years of teaching experience, including five at Harrison. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a doctorate from North Carolina State University.

Beaudoin teaches Chemistry I, Chemistry II and forensic science. She uses labs, real-world problem solving and community partnerships to make learning relevant. Professionals visit her classroom, including Indiana State Police investigators and local fire and medical experts.

Harrison Principal Cory Marshall says Beaudoin balances high expectations with strong student relationships. "She brings out the best in her learners, challenges advanced students, supports those who struggle and ensures every student feels valued, capable and included," Marshall says.

"As a high school chemistry teacher, I aim to increase students' ability to solve problems, conduct investigations and build explanations based on evidence," Beaudoin says. "These skills will help them succeed in life whatever their path might be."
