A contingent of former Indiana Teachers of the Year and representatives from the Indiana Department of Education made a surprise visit to the classroom of Klondike Elementary School teacher Ellie Minogue. The group found the fourth and fifth grade high ability students were giving their teacher a surprise birthday party. To add to the celebration, the contingent announced Minogue is a top three finalist for Indiana Teacher of the year.
Minogue is a Purdue University graduate who has been teaching for more than 12 years.
Minogue says she is honored to be named a finalist and credits her students, families, colleagues and friends for supporting her through the process.
The surprise classroom observation is part of the selection process. The state will announce the 2025 Indiana Teacher of the Year later this fall.
