GLCA names new assistant director

The Greater Lafayette Career Academy (GLCA) has named D.J. Jensen as its new assistant director. The appointment follows the retirement of Jay Davis, who served in that role for five years.

Jensen comes to the GLCA from the Attica Consolidated School Corporation where he served as principal of the junior-senior high school for three years and an assistant principal for four years. Jensen started his career in the Tippecanoe School Corporation in 2011 as a health and physical education teacher and athletic director at Wainwright Middle School. He later served as an assistant principal at Wea Ridge Middle School. Jensen has a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University.

In the role as assistant director, Jensen will oversee student attendance, discipline, building safety and other duties at the GLCA, which has nearly 700 students and 40 staff members.

“Mr. Jensen’s experience and enthusiasm for working with students, staff and other stakeholders will be an asset to the GLCA,” says GLCA Director Miranda Hutcheson. “His leadership will help us grow programs and community partnerships that successfully prepare all learners for careers of their choice.”

Jensen will bring a variety of experiences with career technical education programs and as an administrator. “I was attracted to the GLCA because of the variety of options it provides for its students to get a head start on a career path while in high school,” Jensen says. “While touring the facility, I was in awe of the programs and facilities the students in the Lafayette area have available to them.”

The TSC Board of School Trustees ratified Jensen’s administrative contract on May 8. Jensen will start in his new role at the GLCA in July.
